PENGARUH PEMBERIAN VIRGIN COCONUT OIL TERHADAP PENURUNAN RUAM POPOK PADA BAYI DI CUS BABY SPA

Background: Diaper rash is a condition where the skin is infected due to prolonged exposure to feces and urine due to the use of disposable diapers with features of redness and swelling in the perineal area. Discomfort caused by diaper rash in infants such as fussiness, skin infections to affect their quality of life. The incidence of diaper rash in Indonesia is 7-35%. Giving virgin coconut oil (VCO) is an alternative treatment to reduce the degree of diaper rash in infants due to its antiviral, antibacterial, antibiotic and antiprotozoa content. Given as much as 2ml in the afternoon and morning every day for 5 days. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of VCO on reducing diaper rash in infants. Methods: This study applied one group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 20 people, which was held at Cus Baby Spa Bintaro on March 1 - May 31, 2024. Results: the pretest results of giving VCO were 4 respondents of diaper rash degree 3 and 16 respondents of degree 1 and the posttest results of giving VCO were 2 respondents of diaper rash degree 2, 2 respondents of degree 1 and 16 respondents of degree 0. The analysis test using the Wilcoxon test obtained an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001 <0.05. Conclusion: there is an effect of VCO administration on reducing diaper rash in infants.
