Abstract

Religious character education aims to shape students at UPT SMPN 27 Gresik to become better individuals and have noble morals. This study aims to determine the implementation of religious character education in PPKn learning as well as obstacles and solutions to the implementation of religious character education in PPKn learning at UPT SMPN 27 Gresik. This study used a qualitative approach of descriptive type. The subject in this study was Mrs. Nur Khasanah as a class IX PPKn teacher at UPT SMPN 27 Gresik. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Huberman model through data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The theoretical basis for this study is the theory of character education by Thomas Lickona. The results of this study show that the implementation of religious character education in PPKn learning is carried out through three stages, namely, learning planning, learning implementation, and learning evaluation. In the process of implementing religious character education, several obstacles to research results have been experienced, namely, 1) lack of facilities and infrastructure in the form of media and learning methods have not been varied, 2) the social environment of students and 3) lack of parental attention. From these obstacles, the solutions to overcome them are 1) PPKn teachers make proposals for facilities and infrastructure to the principal and create a new learning atmosphere by participating in several training activities, 2) providing educational advice and motivation to students who have poor behavior and inviting resource persons and holding visits to social places as part of learning religious character,  3) Conduct socialization to make understanding with parents about the importance of religious character education.
