This research was conducted to examine how the process of developing transmigration in East Tanjung Jabung could be used as teaching material in learning history. The research method used in writing this article is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. The results and research this time show that the transmigration settlement in Rantau Rasau, Tanjung Jabung Timur was opened for the first time in 1967, this transmigration was the first transmigration in Jambi Province, the transmigration came from West Java, Central Java, East Java. The problems studied in this study are how the history of the development of transmigration in Rantau Rasau in 1967-1997, how was the socio-economic life of the Transmigration community in Rantau Rasau in 1967-1997. The aim of the community to participate in the transmigration program is due to the factors of population density and poverty, their desire to change their standard of living for a better one, so that they can be prosperous for their children and grandchildren. The development of the East Tanjung Jabung transmigration in 1967-1997 can be utilized as a source of local history for the East Tanjung Jabung region because this material is closely related to the environment in which it lives, so that the values of life during the early days of the first transmigration in Jambi Province could be known by the local community, especially youth.
