Abstract

Mathematics is one of the fields of study that support the development of science and technology. Mathematics helps other sciences to analyze various existing observations, find logical relationships, draw conclusions so as to develop the science. In other words, mathematics is a provision for students to think logically, analytically, systematically, critically and creatively. Problem Based Learning or often called PBL is one of the learning models that is centered on students by confronting these students with various problems faced in their lives. The purpose of this PTK is to describe and analyze the improvement of students' activities and learning outcomes on the circumference of the circle material through the Problem Bassed Learning model in class VI students of SD Negeri Lampeuneurut.The subjects in this study were 30 students. The data collection techniques used were observation and tests. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis using the percentage formula. The results of the data analysis conducted showed an increase in teacher activity in managing learning in cycle I obtained an average score of 2.5 with good criteria, cycle II obtained an average score of 3.4 with very good criteria. Student activities in learning showed an increase in cycle I average value of 42.14 with sufficient criteria, in cycle II the average value was 78.57 with good criteria. Student learning outcomes show an increase, this is indicated by the average value of the first cycle test results of 71.87 in the second cycle of 91.2 this increase has reached the completion indicator. The use of the PBL model can improve the activities and learning outcomes of 6th grade students of SD Negeri Lampeuneurut on the circumference of a circle material. The application of the PBL model in learning math material of the circumference of a circle provides meaningful learning because students learn to understand the concept of the circumference of a circle.
