This study aims to examine the influence of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on problem-solving abilities in the topic of equivalent fractions in Grade V at SDN 2 Karang Anyar Langsa. In the context of mathematics education, problem-solving remains a primary challenge for students. An experimental method with a Quasi-Experimental design was employed in this research, involving 40 students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The results of the study revealed that students who received instruction using the PBL model achieved a significantly higher improvement in problem-solving abilities compared to the control group. The experimental group obtained an average posttest score of 76.5, while the control group's average was 53.5. Data analysis using independent sample t-test showed a 2-tailed significance value of 0.005, which is less than α = 0.05. These findings support the hypothesis that the implementation of the PBL model has a positive impact on students' problem-solving abilities. Thus, this study concludes that the PBL model can effectively enhance students' problem-solving abilities in the topic of equivalent fractions in Grade V at SDN 2 Karang Anyar Langsa. This instructional model encourages students to think critically, participate actively, and better address mathematical problems.
