Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), is a mental health condition that usually arises as a result of a traumatic event to help people avoid unpleasant memories. One of the signs of personality disorder is inflexible and destructive thought patterns. Personality disorders are more commonly found in clinical patients compared to the general population. The etiology of (DID) includes a confluence of biological, psychological, and environmental factors. Based on the DSM-5, there are 5 criteria for the diagnosis of DID. Treatment approaches for DID consist of psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and integrated approaches.
